Sangria

I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. I like to change it up with a faux trip to Spain and make that glass of wine into a glass of Sangria. You don’t have to make a whole pitcher unless you want to.

Sangria

By the Glass

  • Collins or Tall footed glass, with ice
  • Burgundy
  • Orange Juice
  • 7up or Soda
  • lemon, sliced
  • lime,sliced
  • orange,sliced
  • cherry

Muddle a slice of each fruit and fill the glass 2/3 with Wine, 1/3 with Orange Juice saving enough room for a splash of 7up or soda and garnish with a squeeze of each fruit.

By the Pitcher

  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups rum
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1  bottle dry red wine
  • 1 cup 7up
  • 1 cup orange juice

Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour to marry the flavors. Crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon or muddle and stir in the wine, orange juice and 7up. Chill for 1 hour and serve over ice.
