Steel Cut Oatmeal

Oatmeal for breakfast is a great way to get your daily fiber and it will satisfy until lunch time.

Steel Cut Oatmeal
Here are the Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup low fat milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon walnuts, chopped
In a small sauce pan, melt the butter and add the oats. Stir for 2 minutes to toast. Add the boiling water (watch for steam) and reduce heat to a simmer. Keep at a low simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add half and half to the oatmeal and stir gently to combine and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Spoon into a bowl and add brown sugar and cinnamon and stir. Top with nuts. Enjoy!
