Homemade Penne Pasta

There is something to be said about homemade pasta. See my pasta dough recipe to make this pasta. Penne is a favorite and it’s easier than it looks.

Take your time when making the pasta.

Try and make it square the same size.

Homemade Penne Pasta
Here are the Ingredients:
  • pasta dough, (see recipe)
  • small tubular instrument
  • rolling pin
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • flour, sprinkle board and pin
After making the pasta dough, be sure to roll it out fairly thin. Cut into 2×2 squares. Dab egg wash on one end at the corner and roll with tube from opposite corner and remove tube carefully. Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil. When finished with all the pasta place in boiling water and cook for 15 minutes. Mix with your favorite sauce.

Penne Pasta and Spinach in a Creamy Cheese Sauce

Hopefully you take a chance on making your own pasta although store bought is a lot quicker.

Penne Pasta and Spinach in a Creamy Cheese Sauce
Here are the Ingredients:
  • homemade penne pasta, (see recipe)
  • 4 cups baby spinach, washed
  • 2 oz goat cheese
  • 1 oz cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan, grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Make your homemade pasta (or packaged) and mix it with this amazing sauce. Add the goat cheese, cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, and half of the spinach leaves into a food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Place the remaining spinach leaves in a large bowl. Drain the pasta, and spoon the pasta on top of the spinach in the bowl. Add the cheese and spinach mixture over the pasta mixture and toss to coat. Taste and season with more salt and pepper necessary. Top with Parmesan and serve.

Bacon Infused Vodka

Everything tastes better with bacon, even Vodka. If you love a Bloody Mary you’ll love a Bacon Bloody Mary or a Bloody Caesar.

  • 1 liter vodka, absolut
  • 1 pound of bacon, cooked and bacon fat rendered (4 oz)
  • Carafe or mason jar
  • coffee filter
  • strainer

Cook bacon to render fat and pour into a measuring cup. Pour vodka into the carafe or mason jar (save bottle to reuse when infused) and then pour in bacon fat. Let the combination sit at room temperature for 4 hours while stirring every 15 minutes because the mixture will separate. After 4 hours at room temperature and the flavors are infused, place the container in the freezer to solidify the bacon fat. Remove from the freezer and remove enough fat to reach the vodka. Place a coffee filter into a strainer and pour through to filter out all the bacon fat. You can do this a couple of times. Pour back into vodka bottle. Wallah..bacon infused vodka. Enjoy!
